Photos from the Archives

This blog is about the unfinished business one player has with the sport, and that player is I, Jake Villwock. I played two years of youth lacrosse, and then decided to quite before high school, still the biggest regret I have in life. I never put the stick down, and after high school I was off to college. The first thing packed was my stick; I knew there would ne no shortage of concert walls to throw against. About half was through my sophomore year, there was a rumor of a club team starting, so I did all I could to make that rumor come true. I got in touch this the athletic department and had a meeting. Next thing I knew, I was being introduced to the new Head coach. We worked together to get things rolling, and after the first season, I traveled with him down to George to speak to the South Eastern Lacrosse Conference Board. We played schools from all over the south, from Furman to NC State. We played the first ever game in Vert Stadium, something I will forever remember!

After almost 6 years of an athletic department sponsored club team, it was clear that the interest in Lacrosse all over the south was growing rapidly. There was only one thing that High Point could do, start a Division 1 team. It wasn’t until the announcement that I really followed lacrosse after college, I mean I watched the NCAA Finals, who didn’t, but I didn’t have a team to closely follow.

Now six years out of college, I'm back to training, I gave it up too early in life and I plan on making that four years of high school back, over a lifetime of post collegiate leagues, exhibition games, and any other opportunities I get to lace up and stand on the field. Lets start this blog off with a few photos from my college days.
